Hello and welcome.

Thank you for calling in and I hope that you enjoy your stay.

My name is John Parish and I am based on the outskirts of the town of Redruth, which is in West Cornwall.

I am mainly a self taught woodturner but have had a lot of tips and hints and some excellent tutoring from some great guys down at the woodturning club, which I joined when I first took up the hobby after moving here to Cornwall.

My work is mostly practical pieces as you will see from the pictures of some of my work on this site. I undertake some commissions so if there is something that you would like or in a different wood to that shown then please don't hessitate to contact me. Most of the wood that I use is sourced locally as much as possible.

I first found an interest in woodturning whilst living in Northampton in 2003 when I saw a man on television making a table lamp and as with a lot of turners made it look so easy and as usual I said - I can do that. However the following year we moved to Cornwall and I started doing some turning after joining the local club, getting tuition and watching some of the country's top turners in action. I have to admit though, that to this day, I still haven't made that table lamp.

I am a member of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain.

Any items that you see here are for sale. However if you see something here that is aready sold another can be made for you but you must appreciate that no two pieces of wood are exacly the same and colours/ grain patterns will be different. Some pieces made are now in countries such as Australia, U.S.A., Canada, China and also throughout mainland Europe as well.

I show some of my work at local craft fayres for example at The Salvation Army Rooms which is on the seafront close to the lifeboat building in St. Ives, here in sunny Cornwall, on most Mondays during the summer months, which this year starts at the end of April.
So if you are in the area then please call in and say hello.

I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for taking the time to look around the site.
